qmailqmail supports the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (STMP), the Internet standard for email transfer. qmail was designed with 5 basic principles in mind:
qmail uses a new mail box format called Maildir which allows the user's mail to be kept on NFS servers with out the risk of corruption. Most UNIX based email clients support Maildir, and there are pop3 and imap servers that will read Maildir. This makes the use of Maildirs transparent to the end user.
Virtual Domains QmailAdmin, allows the owner of each domain under vpopmail to administer that domain over the web. With QmailAdmin the owner of a domain can manage pop accounts, email aliases, and mailing lists without the need for an account on the mail server and via a secure SSL interface. Sqwebmail is another add-on package for qmail that allows the end user to read their email via a web interface. Again for added security Sqwebmail can run under an SSL environment. Mailing lists are available under qmail with the ezmlm (ez mailing list manager) package. With QmailAdmin installed the owner of the domain can even manage these lists. PrimeHarbor offers support services for qmail and all these additional packages. We also offer custom modifications to meet your specific needs.
